What is MAXathon?

Maxonrow will host its first-ever hackathon, MAXathon online!

Maxonrow is looking for blockchain experts, developers or enthusiasts who can help us fight COVID-19 and future pandemics by solidifying our blockchain for healthcare solution, MedsLOCK.

About MAXathon

We are accepting submissions and registrations until Sep 30. However, after Sep 14, you can only join existing teams, not create your own. Find a group by joining or Slack or registering on our Hackathon platform and checking out the "We're Hiring!" section under each project. For a final project submission, you need to submit both a presentation on the platform and source code on your Github repository 11:59 PM GMT+8 on Sep 30.

Challenges

Track 1:

Physical Distancing

Governments all over the world are searching for solutions to contain the spread of COVID-19. Physical distancing measures such as stay-at-home orders and travel restrictions have been proven to slow the spread in many cases. How can we make use of analytics to create smarter solutions to help governments implement social or physical distancing measures?

Track 2:

Credential and Certificate Issuance

Apart from test results, governments have no way of verifying if a patient has had COVID-19 and is virus-free. Help us build a solution that can help governments quickly retrieve verifiable data.

Track 3:

Welfare

How do we improve the process flow between businesses and the government during a pandemic? Can we eliminate intermediaries to lower transaction costs, while providing transparency to beneficiaries of welfare programs?

Track 4:

Virtualizing the New Norm

To ensure everyone’s safety during a pandemic, we need to maintain physical distance. As our regular lives become disrupted, how can we use blockchain technology to navigate this change? This is a challenge where we will allow creative freedom and evaluate the quality of the solution based on how well it solves the problem presented by each group.

Track 5:

UI/UX

There are many data representations of the current pandemic. How do we present a holistic multi-dimensional dashboard with unique features?

MAXathon FAQ

A hackathon is an intense and fun collaborative hacking marathon. Here, “hack” means to create something entirely new from things that already exist—think “MacGyver”. Developers, designers, marketers, data scientists, start-ups, joined by tech partners, have to develop new products or services within one month in response to Maxonrow’s proposed challenges for MedsLOCK.
Not all participants need to be developers. However, you will need to demonstrate a prototype, so forming a team that accounts for design, UX flow, and code is a great way to go. You will have the opportunity to join a team or recruit new teammates on the hackathon platform. You may also want to recruit colleagues with a broad range of skills to register before the hackathon.
To participate, click the Join Now button on our navigation bar and fill out the form.
Registration is open from July 10, 2020 until September 30, 2020, 11:59 pm (CET). However, after September 13, 2020 you will only be able to join already formed teams. The hackathon will take place from September 5, 2020 until October 3, 2020.
What registration fee? MAXathon is a completely free event! :-)
Due to the ongoing pandemic we have taken our event experience entirely online. We are working hard to bring you an amazing hackathon experience either way :)
Here are some benefits described by people who have participated in other internal hackathons:
• "It’s a new way of working, in a more agile, interdisciplinary, and collaborative form."
• "Challenge yourself, learn by doing and improve your skills."
• "Have a fun and life-changing experience."
• "Turn your knowledge into a concrete and innovative product/service."
• "Collaborate on a project that might be implemented in real life."
Teams can be formed and grouped either:
• ahead of time if you are registering to the hackathon with people you know,
• or virtually by posting on the platform and joining our Slack channel and letting us know then or connecting with potential teammates.
Teams should have 2–6 members. No matter the number of teammates, make sure to cover all hats: development, design (UI/UX), business, and pitch. A single participant can wear several hats!
Absolutely! The competition is endowed with five prizes for a total sum of €15,000, to be distributed evenly among winners.
Yes. In addition to the available technologies provided by Maxonrow, you are free to use any publicly available software and third-party APIs.
They can visit hackathon.maxonrow.com and fill out the form to begin participating!
